The Shadows
"Africa" [Toto]
XXV
Polydor
1983

The Shadows have been in existence for 50+ years in one form or another. Their claim to fame is being what was popular before The Beatles. They are also known as being the backing band for Cliff Richard. As such, most of their output tends to be instrumental.

This song comes from the album that celebrates the band's 25th anniversary, entitled, cleverly enough, XXV. "Africa" was a huge song for Toto in 1982. The Shadows do a pretty faithful cover. And that's the problem. You could just go listen to the original, complete with the lyrics. Why they would make this the lead track of an album celebrating their 25th anniversary is beyond me.

The Bell Score: 2.93141
