While The Darkness were short-lived, I enjoyed their stay immensely. Their two albums of glam rock, falsetto vocals and shredding guitars certainly made my life a lot better. The dual guitar attack of the brothers Hawkins was mind-blowing. And the registers that lead singer Justin Hawkins hit were equally mind-blowing.
This particular track starts off with the band doing a line of coke before the cowbell intro. The lyrics contain multiple references to cocaine and communicate the perils of drug abuse. While this song and many of The Darkness' songs have a tongue firmly planted in cheek, this one actually turned out to be true. Justin Hawkins quit the band and entered rehab for alcohol and cocaine addiction in 2006.
